    In recent weeks, COVID-19 has impacted severely on all our lives, and Blesma and its Members are certainly no exception. The Association has faced many challenges in its 100-year history, but the coronavirus pandemic is unique. Blesma has continued to support Members and their families in this period, with an even greater emphasis on tackling loneliness and isolation. As a matter of course, the team based in Chelmsford regularly updates a risk register for the Board of Trustees, which includes the Association’s planned responses to all manner of significant events.   • Armed Forces Day 2020

    Armed Forces Day is a chance for everyone in the UK to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets. Though the situation with Covid-19 has meant that the many events which normally mark Armed Forces Day have now been cancelled, there are still many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved.   • Blesma at Home workout (Seated Session 3)

    Gregg Stevenson has devised a weekly home workout especially for his fellow Members, to help us keep our mind and bodies healthy during lock-down. "My name is Gregg and I am a Blesma Member that works at SMRC Preston (the prosthetics centre gym). We focus on the benefits that strength, fitness and mobility can bring to amputees and wheelchair users. I intend to develop several fitness sessions for you to try at home, with minimal equipment.   • Isolated Blesma Widow inundated with cards and gifts on her 99th birthday

    Birthday cards and gifts from Blesma Members have helped to raise the spirits of a 99-year-old isolated Blesma Widow. Lilian Almond was discharged into a nursing home away from family and friends in North Wales after spending some time in hospital, following a fall at home. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, and a shortage of care workers to assist her, Lilian could not return home and was instead moved to a nursing home near Llandudno. Despite her hospital visit being non covid-19 related she was forced to self-quarantine in her room, and away from other reside
