Rich Davies has his sights set on competing in archery at the 2032 Paralympic Games in Brisbane after gaining his official classification and shooting a personal best score on his international debut.

“It is early days, but it is going very well and I was delighted to hit a personal best in my first international appearance,” said Rich, 39, from Norfolk, who suffered a foot injury while serving in Cyprus in 2019 that led to a left leg below-knee amputation.

“I got international classification at the Hyundai World Archery Para Series, which enabled me to compete for Great Britain for the first time. The aim now is to continue progressing through the Team GB Paralympic pathway. It may take a while, but I’m training hard and making improvements all the time.

“It is great to put on the GB kit and represent my country again. It might be a different uniform, but it is the same feeling of pride.

“I swam for GB as a teenager but never thought I’d get the opportunity to put the kit on again after my amputation,” Rich added. “Blesma has been part of my journey for a long time, and their support has helped me upgrade my archery equipment as I’ve progressed.”
