Our volunteers are an essential asset. We rely heavily on their invaluable work and assistance to achieve our aims. They bring a fresh perspective and add value to those they support, whilst they too gain new skills and experience.
Volunteers don't need any previous experience, a willing heart, enthusiasm and a ‘can do’ attitude are more important to us.
Why volunteer with us?
Volunteering is a key tool to 'bring about this change'. It is the best way to make a positive change in your life and the lives of others around you. Volunteering can help you:
- Build social networks by making new friends
- Increase self-confidence
- Challenge your fears
- Gain new skills and valuable experience
Ways to volunteer?
Digital Volunteering: Help us to combat loneliness among our Members. We have new opportunities for the tech-literate to help veterans without digital knowledge get online, so they can stay connected with each other and the Association through Blesma Connects. (Don't worry - you don't have to be a tech expert, we'll train you to use the app).
Community events: Support our Members by organising social events such as coffee mornings, lunches and afternoon teas. Arrange trips and outings locally or prehaps even nationally.
Fundraising: Organise your own event. Every pound raised enables us to continue our work.
Administrative support: Work alongside our staff providing administrative support for a wide range of tasks - answering and making calls; input data; mail outs; making up event packs.
Event Volunteering: Help make a difference by volunteering at one of our events. Our volunteers play a critical role in making events a success by supprting events locally or forming a cheer squad.
