Lower limb amputees who would like to access information or support ahead of their first prosthetic appointment can now visit My Prosthetic Priorities – a new free online hub designed to help them feel informed, confident and prepared.
It follows new research showing many UK lower-limb amputees are making this life-shaping decision without enough support, information or meaningful say. Of those surveyed, 72% felt they had little or no input into choosing their prosthesis, with 84% wanting more involvement. Many later experienced challenges after taking it home.
Developed with amputee organisations, clinicians and expert partners across the UK and US, the hub brings together trusted resources, including the first Decision-Making Aid for Lower Limb Amputees – a practical tool to help people identify their priorities, understand likely choices and prepare for better conversations with their prosthetist.
