  • Future bride and groom set to take on mud run on their wedding day for Blesma!

    A soon-to-be wed couple are taking part in a mud run challenge on their wedding day with their wedding guests! Amputee Rob Copsey and Becky McGuire, who plan to run in Bride and Groom themed costumes, are set to wed at 10am on 13 May in front of 80 guests before they quickly dart across to the Nuclear Races for 12pm. So far the couple have managed to persuade 40 of their wedding guests to take part and run for Blesma, the Limbless Veterans.Blesma have partnered with Nuclear Races for their award winning fun, tough and gritty obstacle race on 13 May.   • Photography Competition for Blesma Members

    Photography is very popular amongst Blesma members. You wouldn't realise it but when your life has dramatically changed through the loss of a limb or becoming a widow, picking up a camera to take photos really can help in your road to recovery. It may start with taking photos in your garden and before you know it you're on one of Blesma's Photography activities, in the Isle of Mull, hanging off a boat taking amazing photos of white-tailed Eagles! - Reframing your life through Photography.

  • Experience: Why I chose an elective amputation

    For more than 16 years, Blesma Member Andy suffered from terrible pain in his right ankle which grew worse the more he tried to lead an active life. The pain was so severe that Andy required a walking stick and sometimes even a scooter to get around. In 2014, after five failed operations, Andy decided to have an elective amputation. The pain first started as a result of a training accident in 2000 while serving in the Royal Navy. The injury, which was never x-rayed, resulted in Andy suffering heavy damage to his right ankle and, as time went on, it became worse to walk on. Eighteen m
