Steven's Story

Steve Gill lost both his legs to an IRA bomb whilst serving in Northern Ireland.

"I was blown up by a bunch of nuts and bolts, packed into a beer barrel, detonated by a bloke sitting in a pub. One of my legs was torn clean off. The other was hanging by a thread.

A brick from the explosion lodged itself in my face and ruined my left eye. A corporal had to stick his fist inside my wound to stop the bleeding.

I lost two legs and my eye, I was knackered and my career was blown out of the water. It was the darkest time of my life, but Blesma helped me see I still had lots to live for."
