Get roped in at Vertigo Adventures to help wounded veterans
Thrill-seekers are being urged to sign up for a sponsored Powerfan jump at Vertigo Adventures in Welwyn Garden City to help raise funds for injured servicemen and women who have lost limbs and the use of limbs.
The ‘Plumathon’ on 10 June will raise money for the attraction’s chosen charity, Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.
The event in Stanborough Park (North) coincides with Blesma’s own fundraising week, from 5-11 June, when individuals and organisations around the country hold events to raise money for the military charity.
General Manager at Vertigo Adventures, Vikki Hadnett, says: “There are lots of good reasons for volunteering to raise money for Blesma at our Plumathon, we owe so much to the men and women supported by Blesma and we wanted to organise an event where lots of people can come together to raise money for them. Just as importantly, it’ll be great fun.”
In June 2012, a team of 52 injured soldiers trekked for nearly six hours up Ben Nevis to light a beacon to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. On 10 June, the aim is to achieve 148 sponsored jumps on the Powerfan during the day, which will equal the 4,413ft height of Ben Nevis. All money raised will go to the charity, with a minimum donation of £5 for each jump.
