Chief Executive Leads Team to Scale New Heights for Wounded Veterans
24 February 2015
This summer, former Brigadier and Chief Executive, Barry Le Grys, will be leading a team of adventurers to take on the Three Peaks Challenge, raising vital funds to support wounded veterans.
In a race against the clock Barry, 55 and from Cardiff, will summit Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in England, and Snowdon in Wales, trekking 26 miles, ascending nearly 3,000 metres, and driving over 400 miles.
Barry says: “We’ll have just 24 hours to summit Britain’s three highest peaks. Without a doubt, this is going to be a tough challenge for me. But taking part for Blesma, and thinking of the challenges our Members face every day will spur me on!”
The Three Peaks Challenge will take place from 5-7 June 2015, during Blesma Week, the charity’s annual week of fundraising and awareness raising activities which take place around the UK.
If you think you have what it takes to take on this tough but rewarding challenge, please contact the Blesma Fundraising Team on 020 8548 7089.
Laura Hyde, Community and Fundraising Events Manager says: “This is going to be a tough event that will test both mental and physical stamina. If you have what it takes and would like to join the team we’d love to hear from you!”
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans helps all serving and ex-Service men and women who have lost limbs, or lost the use of limbs or eyes, to rebuild their lives by providing rehabilitation activities and welfare support. Our programmes allow Members and their families to face the challenges ahead with renewed confidence and self-belief.
