Blesma Member, Chris Jones, 66, of Stroud says: “The last time I volunteered it cost me my right leg, but that was 48 years ago and my luck may have changed! If anyone would like to join me for a couple of hours on the 7th, Blesma would love to hear from you!”

Laura Hyde, Fundraising Events Manager at Blesma says: “Our Members are a true inspiration and demonstrate to us all just what can be achieved. We couldn’t continue our work without community support, and the support of organisations such as the GE Veterans Network, so please consider joining us.  All of our wonderful volunteers will receive a t-shirt and certificate of thanks.”

She added: “We also still have some places for people to take part in the half marathon. There’s no entry fee and no minimum sponsorship required – just raise as much as you can to support our injured veterans!”

Blesma – The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.

About GE Veterans Network

The GE Veterans Network (GEVN) is a new addition to GE’s group of affinity networks and employee groups that supports, develops and promotes the unique characteristics of military veterans throughout GE’s businesses and local communities and also focuses on fostering a culture inside the company that recruits, transitions, develops and retains veterans as an essential leadership pipeline at GE. GE currently recruits military veterans through its Junior Officer leadership Program (JOLP), as well as through hiring programs that target those finished with their active duty commitments. The vision of the GE Veterans Network is to make GE the employer of choice for veterans, reservists, and guardsmen while creating a GE community of veterans and veteran leaders to support and encourage the career development and growth of all its members while also serving the veteran community nationwide through national and local community service events.
