25-yr-old Londoner runs her first ever Virgin London Marathon for a charity supporting injured veterans since World War 1

Alexandra Hunter-Dunn, 25, will be part of Team Blesma running the Virgin London Marathon in support of limbless veterans this April.
Alexandra, who works for PR agency Captive Minds in Shoreditch, London, is taking on her first marathon after being introduced to Blesma by her partner, a Blesma Member who was injured while serving in Iraq.
Originally from Leatherhead, Alexandra has also had contact with Blesma Members through her work with Walking With The Wounded in 2013. She has been raising money through bake sales at work and has organised a fundraising dinner with 25 friends. She is also planning to add to her current total of just over £800 with a raffle, and, on completion of the marathon with a celebratory fundraising evening.
Alexandra says: “Having run a few half marathons, I have been itching to go all the way for some time now. I have been incredibly fortunate to spend a fair amount of time with injured veterans and their positivity is truly infectious.
“Blesma’s success story is best shared by the wounded veterans who have benefitted from their support. As I was picking my charity of choice, I could not think of another charity which was more worthwhile.”
Elizabeth Pappalardo, Senior Fundraising Executive for Community & Events at Blesma says: “It is fantastic that our own Members have motivated Alexandra to fundraise for us by running the Virgin London Marathon. The money raised by Alexandra will mean that we can continue to help injured service personnel be inspirational.”
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.
