Blesma's Annual Charity Golf day was a safe success

Following months of cancelled events due to the COVID-19 Crisis, and with a close eye on the current government advice on outdoor activities, it was decided that the Annual Blesma Golf Day could go ahead for 2020 at the prestigious Thorndon Hall Golf Club in Brentwood. It would prove to be unlike any previous Blesma Golf event, with Anti-Bacterial gel being passed to each participant in their goodie bags, along with their snacks and water, and the Blesma Staff donning masks and gloves as they marked people in at the registration desk. Blesma Member and Support Officer Paul Findlay is riding for 48 hours for Blesma and the NHS

Paul Findlay is all set to take on a 48-hour cycling challenge for NHS Heroes and War Veterans. Former Royal Signals Corporal, Blesma Member and Support officer Paul Findlay is attempting a two-day cycling challenge this weekend, starting on Saturday at 8am.Taking inspiration and motivation from Captain Tom Moore and five-year-old double amputee Tony Hudgell, who both raised millions for the NHS, Paul will be raising funds for the NHS Charities together and Blesma, both of which have been instrumental in his recovery. Blesma at Home workout (Seated Session 5)

Gregg Stevenson has devised a weekly home workout especially for his fellow Members, to help us keep our mind and bodies healthy during lock-down. Former Royal Engineer Gregg lost one leg above and the other below the knee after triggering an IED while on patrol in Afghanistan in 2009. During his rehabilitation he gained weight, and at the same time was looking at how he could improve his situation. It was a long road to recovery, but he decided the answer was to throw himself into fitness. With a little help from Blesma, Gregg has since gained qualifications

Remembering those we have Lost: Elizabeth Bartlett

WWII Women’s Land Army Veteran Elizabeth Bartlett passed away on 15 April due to coronavirus. She was 99 years old. Elizabeth was just 21 years old when she gave up her job in a Sheffield steelworks in October 1941 to join the war effort. She was one of 80,000 women who signed up for the home-based force to take farming and industrial jobs to help the war effort, and was sent to work on a farm in Kent.
