    Blesma, the lead Service charity upon living with limb loss since the aftermath of WW1, recognises that new technology and clinical procedures can improve traumatic injury treatment.  Osseo-integration, or direct skeletal fixation (both terms are in use), whereby an implant is fitted into the residual limb with a component of the implant protruding from the skin to connect to the external prosthetic limb is evolving right now with a programme launched in Australia.  A small number of selected British Servicemen have been put through this programme by the Ministry of Defence (MoD).  T

    The White Report came about because a small number of limbless Veterans, including retired Royal Marines, are going overseas for treatment.  Blesma, the lead Service charity upon living with limb loss since the aftermath of WW1, and the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund wished to know why, so we asked one of them, Jon White, to answer the question in a report and to suggest a plan for the future.  We believe the White Report merits serious consideration and discussion.  Much progress has been made as a result of the Murrison initiative, and we look forward to working with the NHS t

  • MG Rover Clubs go 'Leg 4 Leg' in aid of Blesma

    Next month, representatives of MG Rover clubs around the UK will be hitting the road on an epic motoring event ‘Leg4leg’, in aid of Blesma. Their mission? To pass the Leg4leg emblem (pictured) from club to club, starting from Land’s End and finishing at John O’Groats, and raising vital funds for injured veterans along the way.
