  • Blesma seek volunteers for Brentwood Festival

    Fancy free entry to see the likes of Soul ll Soul, Level 42, Tony Hadley and The Boomtown rats? Blesma are looking for volunteers to help with collection buckets at the Brentwood Festival taking place between 15th – 17th July 2016. The festival organisers have chosen Blesma as their charity of the year, and members will be attending the stages through the weekend to present their stories of overcoming adversity. The festival includes headline acts from Soul ll Soul, Level 42 and Bob Geldof’s band, The Boomtown Rats. Volunteers will be asked to help

  • Blesma attends official opening of Wounded exhibition

    A major new exhibition into the history of battlefield injuries and how they ushered in ground-breaking medical treatments opened at the Science Museum to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. Blesma members were among guests invited to the opening night of Wounded: Conflict, Causalities and Care that was officially launched by Dame Mary Archer and Falklands War veteran Simon Weston.   • Jerome Church OBE

    It was with deep sadness that we learned of the passing away of Jerome Church OBE, our General Secretary for thirteen years from 2000 to 2013.  A Blesma Member, Jerome was on a family visit with his grandchildren in the United States at the time. A private funeral will be held in Ridgewood, New Jersey on Friday 17th June with a memorial service in London at a future, yet to be confirmed, date. All Members, Trustees and staff of Blesma, the Limbless Veterans extend our thoughts and sincerest best wishes to Jane and Jerome’s family at this sad time.

    Blesma, the Limbless Veterans is at present in a period of consultation with residents and staff at the Blesma Blackpool Home and until that process is complete in August there is no absolute decision on its future.   Whatever happens our highest priority is to ensure residents continue to receive the high quality and affordable care the Blesma Blackpool Home currently provides. Blesma is committed to all of its members for life. The number of residents at the Blesma Home has been declining at an increasing rate over the past few years.  This is as a result of several factors.  Blesm
