600 Donuts Sold in 10 Minutes for Blesma!
1 April 2015An incredible 600 Krispy Kreme doughnuts were sold in 10 minutes at Queens' School with the help of several cadets, sixth-formers and officers Flt Lt Dombey and Plt Off Forrester, for the military charity Blesma on Friday 27 March. Great Dunmow Round Table & 33 Regiment Raise £56k for Blesma!
27 March 2015A group of 34 cyclists from The Great Dunmow Round Table, and supporters from 33 Engineer Regiment have raised an incredible £56,000 for Blesma by cycling 165 miles from Great Dunmow, Essex to Ypres to lay a wreath at the Menin Gate in honour of those who lost their lives in WW1. Chairman Mike Dalton said, “We set out to raise a target of £40,000, but the fact that we actually raised £56,000 is outstanding. Operation Varsity Memorial Cycle
25 March 2015On Sunday 22 March, Blesma Supporter David Alexander set off on an epic, non-stop and unsupported cycle challenge from Colchester to Wessel to remember glider pilots and paratroopers who 70 years ago mounted the largest single airborne operation in history to take place in one day. More than 16,000 Allied paratroopers were dropped on to German territory on March 24, 1945, as part of Operation Varsity, the last big Allied operation of World War Two. Meet David Bland, the Abseiling Octogenarian!
17 March 2015On Sunday 24 May at 9.30am, Blesma Member David Bland will celebrate his 80th birthday by abseiling the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth, along with eleven friends. For those unfamiliar with the Spinnaker Tower, it is Portsmouth’s most prominent landmark, standing at 560ft (170 metres) and overlooking Portsmouth Harbour.
