Melvyn Auty MBE - obituary
2 February 2016Melvyn Auty MBE passed away on 22nd January 2016. Having lost a leg below the knee and receiving damage to his other foot in Palestine during National Service, he became an active member of Blesma, spending more than 40 years as a Welfare Officer in South Yorkshire. Mervyn was recognised for his work in the 1998 New Year’s Honours list, when HM The Queen awarded him an MBE for his services to Blesma. This was one of his proudest moments. After retiring from work as an editor on the South Yorkshire Post and then from his Blesma duties he continued to take an active interest

17 January 2016Over two separate days, the team at Verdi Studios donated their time and studio to Blesma, The Limbless Veterans charity, who also have their office in Chadwell Heath. Photography is a popular hobby for a number of amputee and spinal cord injured military veterans and on learning this Parm & Kirsty were quick to offer the studio days free of charge to the charity. Amputee breaks his leg at sea - but has a spare!

Bill Madeley MBE - obituary
12 January 2016Bill Madeley MBE passed away on 03 January 2016. Bill was a ‘people person’ who was never happier than when he was helping those in need. He was elected to Walsall Council in 1971, was elected Mayor of Walsall in 1988, Deputy Leader of the Council in 1997 and, finally, Leader of the Council in 1999. Bill was awarded the MBE in 2006 for his service to the local community, and was admitted as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough in 2010.
