  • Bust of Ray Winstone Sculpted Live in Aid of Blesma

    Actor Ray Winstone has shown his support for Blesma at a special live sculpture event in London. The star of The Departed, King of Thieves and Sexy Beast sat for royal sculptor Frances Segelman at The Garrison Chapel, Chelsea Barracks. In just two hours, Segelman created a clay bust of Winstone in front of an audience, with proceeds from the evening going to Blesma.

    An intrepid group of veterans created history by becoming the only team of limbless swimmers to cross the English Channel twice. The former forces team, each missing a leg, completed their epic crossing just after midnight today (Thursday) after 14 hours and 40 minutes in nine-foot swells and swimming through a ‘wall of jellyfish’ on the daunting 25-mile route.   • Sandhurst hosts football tournament to promote international camaraderie

    Two Blesma Members teamed up with limbless Ukrainian veterans for a football tournament at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst to promote resilience and international camaraderie. Lisa Johnston and Nick Grey were at the heart of the action as their combined team took on opponents fromArsenal, Brighton & Hove Albion, and RMA Sandhurst in the event, which was organised by Tackling Matters,a charity that builds pitches for injured, amputee and PTSD-affected soldiers and civilians.
