Introduction:
The goal of the research is to develop a digital app that facilitates communication between veterans with lower limb loss and prosthetic rehabilitation clinicians regarding socket comfort and fit.
Why You've Been Invited:
Your experience as a veteran with a lower limb amputation and prosthetic limb use makes you an ideal candidate for this study. However, participation is entirely voluntary, and you are under no obligation to take part. The research team is available to answer any questions you may have before you decide to participate.
Study Process:
The study consists of three stages, all conducted online using Microsoft Teams. In the first two stages, you will engage in group discussions with 6 to 8 other veterans. These discussions will focus on socket-related experiences, discomfort, and suggestions for the digital application. Stage three involves a one-to-one interview-style session to assess the functionality and effectiveness of the new app. However, if you prefer, you can participate only in stage one without continuing to stages two and three.
Each stage of data collection will take approximately one hour to complete.

Data Collection:
The data collection process includes completing a "My situation" questionnaire to indicate your interest in participating. Additionally, group discussions and interviews will be conducted via Microsoft Teams, recorded, and documented for future reference. All data will be stored securely with encryption and password protection, adhering to University of Southampton guidelines. Personally identifiable information will be kept confidential, and your participation will be anonymized to protect your identity.
Confidentiality and Withdrawal:
Your participation and any information collected during the study will remain strictly confidential. Only the research team and authorized personnel from the University of Southampton may access the data for monitoring purposes. Regulatory authorities may also require access to ensure study compliance. If your data is used in publications, a different name will be used to protect your identity. You have the right to withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason, and your care will not be affected.
Research Findings and Results:
Your personal details will be kept strictly confidential, and research findings will be used to develop the new app in collaboration with Radii Devices. The results will be presented in a research article and shared with participants who took part in the study. Any reports or publications resulting from this research will not contain personally identifiable information.
