Mind Sheffield is offering family members of someone who experiences PTSD, a three week course via Zoom. This course is structured as follows:
Week 1
- Understanding PTSD and mental illness
- Understanding anger
- Living alongside PTSD and mental illness
Week 2
- Communication and reconnection with a family member
- Problem solving in relationships
- Supporting my family with low mood and depression
Week 3
- Dealing with difficult emotions
- Finding yourself again
- Importance of you
The course will take place on the 13th, 20th & 27th April 2021 from 2 to 3.30pm.
If you feel this could be of interest to a member of your family, please help us to spread the word. Opportunities like this are few and far between.
Applications for the course should be sent to meo@blesma.org by Monday 29th March.
Please include the name of the family member wishing to apply and their relation to you, the Member. Please note, this course is for a family member to attend rather than the individual who experiences PTSD.
The aim of the course is to help people understand more about PTSD and how it affects people, how to communicate and support someone struggling with PTSD, and finally the importance of looking after yourself when supporting others. It will also include time to have conversations with others who may be in a similar situation.
The course runs on Zoom for three consecutive weeks, for 90 minutes each week.
