Blesma is pleased to announce that Jonathan Bell is the Association’s most recent ambassador. Jonathan has been a Member since 2006, before which he served in the 1st Battalion, The Green Howards, completing several tours of Northern Ireland. In his spare time, Jonathan is a keen hand-cyclist and has played a pivotal role in a number of Blesma’s cycling activities including Soldier Ride UK, the Battlefield Bike Ride, and the Blesma 100.

“I feel really honoured to have been asked to become an ambassador,” said Jonathan, 52, from Surrey. “My role will involve encouraging more people to get involved in more events, and to raise a greater awareness for the charity – in particular the Blesma 100.”

Last year, Jonathan led 75 veterans and serving soldiers on a 100-mile cycle ride across the South Yorkshire countryside to launch Blesma Week. Altogether, the Blesma 100 raised more than £31,000 for the charity. Following that success, Jonathan is rallying the troops once more to take on another 100-mile ride, this time in North Lincolnshire on 06 May.

This year, we want the ride to raise awareness of Blesma, getting as much media coverage as possible to help raise the profile of the charity and the great work that Blesma does. So far, we have 120 veterans riding on the day and we’re still looking for more to join us!”
