NHSE has announced a 12 week consultation on changes made to 15 of its specialised services specifications, including the specification for complex disability equipment. The specifications set out what is expected of providers in terms of the standards required, and define access to a service. The consultation process started on 26th February so will end on 21st May 2014.
All 15 service specifications have already been subject to consultation but NHSE is now consulting on changes made to those documents since the last consultation exercise was undertaken. NHSE has highlighted on the documents those areas that have been amended and these sections have been tested with stakeholders who consider them to be ‘substantial’ changes, which therefore require a further period of consultation.
In order to support those who wish to contribute their views to the consultation, NHSE has prepared a short guidance document which sets out the processes followed by NHS England in developing specialised services specifications, and the scope of the consultation, i.e. what is being consulted on.
The Complex Disability Equipment – Prosthetic Specialised Services (ref. D01/S/d) can be viewed here.
Consultation response
To respond to the consultation exercise, NHSE has set up an *online consultation form which can be found here.
This form consists of three response boxes to the following questions, namely:
- In your view, what would be the effect of the proposed changes on the service?
- What further changes, if any, do you think need to be made to this document?
- Are there any other considerations not reflected in the document that you wish to draw to our attention?
A response can also be sent to NHSE via email to: julie.cunningham2@nhs.net
Alternatively, you can send your comments to Blesma to allow us to formulate a representative response. Your comments should be sent to BSOprosthetics@blesma.org Should you wish to discuss the consultation document with the office, please call 0208 5487080
* update, the consultation exercise period has now ended
