Meet Alan Mistlin CBE
Trustee for Blesma since
25 June 2023
Their Story
Alan served 37 years in the Army Medical Services. The majority of that time was at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court and Stanford Hall. During this time Alan worked across all of Defence Rehabilitation, including neurological rehabilitation and complex trauma.
Within complex trauma Alan was responsible for developing a number of services beyond current NHS capabilities. As the chair of the Clinical Reference Group and Programme of Care Board for NHS England, he has helped to formulate policies for microprocessor knees, multi-grip hands and direct skeletal fixation, as well as a new service specification for prosthetics.
Outside of work Alan enjoys cycling, running and cricket. He remains in clinical practice and continues to support veterans with complex injuries.
