Donate to Blesma in memory of someone

Making a donation in memory of a loved one is a wonderful way to remember their legacy.

People choose to make a donation to Blesma in memory of someone for a variety of reasons. It may be that they want to support injured veterans, had a family member or friend who was supported by Blesma during their lifetime, or their loved one served in the Armed Forces. Every donation has a unique reason behind it.

Why donate to Blesma over other veteran charities?

  1. Lifelong support for injured and limbless veterans
At Blesma, we provide practical, emotional, and financial support to injured and limbless veterans for life. This includes rehabilitation programs, advice on prosthetics, home adaptations, and help navigating the benefits system.

  2. Community and wellbeing
We provide a year-round calendar of activities for injured veterans and their direct family members. Our range of activities and courses includes breaks for couples and families, fitness classes, sailing, fishing, photography, painting, golf and much more.

  3. A personal approach
We place great emphasis on caring, listening, and striving to learn, never patronising and putting Members’ needs first. Every Member will be assigned one of our nine Blesma Support Officers who along with Blesma Outreach Officers are here and on hand to help provide advice and emotional support to veterans and their families.

  4. Representation for injured and limbless veterans
The Association has a legacy of campaigning for improved rights for military personnel. We have a long track record in seeking and achieving improvements in prosthetic services, the War Pension and Armed Forces Compensation Scheme.

Create An Online Tribute Page

If you would like to ask people to leave a donation in memory of someone, setting up an online tribute page which you can direct people to is one of the easiest ways. There are numerous platforms you can use such as JustGiving or Much Loved.

JustGiving is one of the most popular platforms for creating an online tribute page. To raise money in memory of someone, you can set up an In Memory fundraiser and select ‘Find a charity’.

You can then select ‘Yes, I’m fundraising for a charity’ and select Blesma or another charity to fundraise for. Once you have completed your JustGiving page, you will then be given the option to share the link with friends and family.

Much Loved is another trusted online tribute website. You can create a private or public tribute on their website.

Set Up A Funeral Collection

You may want to commemorate the life of a loved one by setting up a funeral collection. You could set up an online tribute page, collect donations in person at the funeral or ask friends and family to make a direct donation online.

Wreath
Instead of flowers or a wreath, you could ask for donations in memory of a loved one.

Gift in Wills

One of the most impactful ways you can support limbless and injured veterans long into the future is by leaving a gift in your Will to Blesma. In fact, one in three of our limbless veterans are supported thanks to gifts in Wills.

Events In Memory

When losing a loved one, some supporters may decide to take part in a fundraising event to celebrate their life. This could be anything from running a marathon to hiking a mountain, taking on a skydive, or swimming a specific distance.

If you would like to take part in an event in memory of a loved one for Blesma, we offer charity places for a number of events including Tough Mudder, Ultra Challenge events including the Peak District and Lake District, and running events such as the Edinburgh Marathon, Great North Run, and Hackney Half Marathon. For keen golfers, we also host an annual golf day.
