Their Story
Blesma Support Officer London and South East: Steve Burrell
Steve Burrell brings to Blesma a wide range of very relevant experience, having worked for Blind Veterans UK as a Community Support worker for Hertfordshire for 3 years. This role involved working with veterans who had either lost their sight in service, or years after due to various eye conditions such as macular degeneration and glaucoma. Before that he served in the Army for 22 years, and in the last 12 years of his service worked in the Army Welfare Service providing support to soldiers and their families, including everything from low level counselling to working on child protection cases.
Steve's experience at Blind Veterans UK led him to Blesma, where he hopes to use his skills to assist the width and breadth of our Membership. He is a keen amateur cook and loves to dabble in new recipes, and also hosts his own local pub quiz.
