grants for our members

As an Armed Forces charity, our mission allows us to offer our Members financial assistance with the additional costs and hardships of disability.

In the last year we have:

  • Provided 1,003 individual grants to 603 recipients to help with the additional costs of disability

We regularly contribute to the provision of wheelchairs, stairlifts, and home adaptations & garden adaptations so that Members can remain mobile and independent in their own homes for as long as possible.

Our aim is to ensure that all our Members can reach their full potential and live with purpose

We consider grant applications on an individual basis - based on your specific needs.

We have issued disability grants in the past for mobility aids such as stair-lifts, scooters, wheelchairs and walking frames alongside specialist equipment. As one of many Military charities, Blesma is unique in the fact that Blesma can also help you with grants towards the cost of re-decorating your home or maintaining your garden. We do this because we understand that wheelchairs and scooters can easily damage your door frames and skirting boards no matter how careful you are.

We recognise that it can be dangerous to climb a ladder to paint those difficult to reach places when you have lost a limb or use of a limb, just as we know it can be difficult to tend your flower beds and mow your lawns. Using grants we can help you with the costs of employing a decorator or gardener to do this work for you.

Blesma Members can apply directly for a Garden grant by downloading and completing the form this webpage.

If you require help with this, or any other Grant, or wish to learn more, please contact your Blesma Support Officer in the first instance.
