Meet the Trustees

Edward Grant Martin Davis CB CBE - National Chairman

Lieutenant General Ed served for 34 years in Naval Service before taking on the role of Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Gibraltar from 2016 until 2020. He served in the Royal Marines and became Commanding Officer of a specialist military unit. He led 3 Commando Brigade, including commanding a multi-national Task Force Helmand, Afghanistan, before becoming Commandant General of the Royal Marines

Stephen White

Steve served in the Royal Green Jackets for four years before sustaining a leg and knee injury that subsequently resulted in losing his left leg, above the knee. He was discharged from the British Army in 1986.

Miles Ambler

Miles served with The Queen’s Own Hussars for eight years and subsequently served for five years with 23 SAS in Scotland. After leaving the Regular Army, Miles joined Brewin Dolphin Limited, working as a Senior Divisional Director. During his thirty years with the company he was financial advisor to many charities and individuals, including RBL Scotland, Scottish National War Memorial (Edinburgh Castle) and the Borders NHS Trust.

Ali Grant

Ali was a former Major in the Queen Alexanders Royal Army Nursing Corps. Ali was injured in a road traffic accident in July 2005 resulting in paraplegia - the loss of use of her lower limbs. Ali, in addition to sitting on our Board of Trustees, is a Member of the Association.

Rob Kerrigan

Rob is a commercial lawyer with broad experience of coordinating and delivering commercial, legal and regulatory support to regulated organisations. He has a strong personal commitment to supporting veterans which stems from the experiences of friends and family members who have deployed on recent military operations, some of whom were injured in active service.

Liam Maguire

Liam has worked in media and communications for 15 years, as both a journalist and PR consultant. He currently sits as an Executive Director on the board of Good Relations, one of the UK’s largest creative PR and content agencies.

Richard Gilbert

Richard Gilbert spent nine years in the RAF, and then worked at Scotland Yard SO15 Counter Terrorism department as a detective.

Alan Mistlin CBE

Alan served 37 years in the Army Medical Services. The majority of that time was at the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Headley Court and Stanford Hall. During this time Alan worked across all of Defence Rehabilitation, including neurological rehabilitation and complex trauma.

Neil Heritage

Neil joined the Royal Signals aged 16 and served operationally in Bosnia, Northern Ireland and Iraq. He was medically discharged after 11 years’ service following a suicide bomb attack in 2004 whilst serving in Iraq. The incident resulted in him becoming a bi-lateral above knee amputee.

Colin Whitworth

Colin served in the Army as an Ammunition Technical Officer (ATO). He lost his left arm in Northern Ireland 1993, when an Improvised Explosive Device he was attempting to render safe detonated. Despite his injury, Colin continued his military career as a bomb disposal operator and served operationally for over 39 years.

Lisa Johnston

Lisa Johnston joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in 2001 as a Combat Medical Technician. Serving for 17 years, she traveled the globe, including postings to Germany, the Falklands, Egypt, Iraq, and Kuwait. A training injury in 2014 led to the development of Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, eventually resulting in the loss of her left leg above the knee in June 2016.
