Hi, my name is Scott. If you have a few minutes, I’d like to tell you my story and ask that, on this Remembrance Day, when we think about those who went to war and never came home, you might spare a thought for those wounded in service.

Please remember those who have lost their limbs, the use of their limbs, or their sight protecting our country. They have made huge sacrifices and now need your support.

"Nobody ever forgets the day they lose a limb. I remember 29 December 2010 – the day I was blown up. I was 25 years old."

This Remembrance Day, please spare a thought for our limbless veterans

"Next month will mark the tenth anniversary of my injury. I can honestly say that my life would be a lot worse without the support of Blesma.

The day I was blown up was the day my life changed completely. I went from being a young man fighting for my country to being an amputee in a hospital bed without a career.

For the last decade, Blesma has been by my side, as it has with all serving and ex-Service men and women who have lost limbs, the use of limbs, their hearing, sight or speech, either during or after service.

"Everyone has bad days, so having someone who can offer support – especially in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday – is so important."

Everyone has bad days, so having someone who can offer support – especially in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday – is so important. I’m doing OK now; I’m married and have children, but not everyone has someone to turn to.

Blesma offers companionship to those who are alone, provides job training for others, and ensures limbless and injured veterans receive vital medical help with issues such as pain management.

These are the people who need Blesma’s help and they are the reason why Blesma needs your help."
