Project: Supporting Limbless Veterans’ and Carers’ Health Needs

We are delighted to be awarded a total of grant of £24,973 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Hidden Voices 2026/7 programme to help limbless and injured veterans and their spouses/partners with health and wellbeing needs to access bespoke in-person and online fitness and mental health/wellbeing activities and support.

This one-year project running from February 2026 to the end of January 2027 aims to help up to 38 participants (limbless or injured veterans and their partners). For this project we will also work to share best practices with other organisations and charities to ensure better long-term support for limbless and injured veterans and their families.

Project: Therapeutic and Recreational Activities for Limbless Veterans

We are delighted to be awarded a total of grant of £300,000 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Fulfilling Future programme to help limbless and injured veterans who are struggling with the psychological impact of their injuries and traumatic conflict and incidences experienced in Service, empowering them to lead more fulfilling lives long-term.

This three-year project will run from Spring 2025 to Spring 2028 and deliver a comprehensive therapeutic wellness programme to help up to 377 veterans.

80 Activities, support and coaching/mentoring opportunities will support veterans by breaking down barriers and help individuals to: progress positively through their recovery; reduce isolation and improve their quality of life while also supporting sustainable connections with the wider Armed Forces community.

Project: Supporting Staff, Helping Limbless Veterans

We are delighted to be awarded a total grant of £98,508 from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust’s Embedding Prevention of Veterans Suicide programme.

This two-year programme will run from Spring 2025 to Spring 2027 and provide suicide prevention and mental health/wellbeing training to Blesma staff, key stakeholders and limbless and injured veterans.

This funding will also enable the Association to embed suicide prevention, creating systemic change and sustainable support/impact for vulnerable beneficiaries at risk – including elderly veterans, single and double amputees and female limbless/injured veterans.

The Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust has kindly supported Blesma since 2019, funding a variety of specific projects to support our limbless and injured veterans and their families in areas across the UK. Most recently this also included supporting our Female Focused Activities project (2023 – mid 2026) and our Outreach activities programme for Members and their families in Scotland (2020 – 2024).

We are incredibly grateful for their very diverse support and generosity throughout the pandemic and in recent years.
