Why should I fundraise for Blesma?
Blesma provides a lifetime support for veterans who have suffered life-changing limb loss or the use of a limb, an eye or sight.
Thanks to your help, we can continue support veterans like Matt.
Matt Weston was just 20 when he lost three limbs to a bomb blast in Afghanistan.
"All I remember is a flash, my ears ringing, and the sense of falling. I lost both my legs and my right arm below the elbow in the blast. My rehab has been long, slow and difficult. I was in intensive care for a while and was in hospital for three months, and I've just had my fiftieth operation."
"If my chair breaks and I can't repair it, Blesma will get it done. I was in a bad place after my injury but Blesma have been there for me, by my side from day one."
You will also receive:
- Blesma running vest or t-shirt
- Blesma wristband
- Other Blesma goodies
- Fundraising pack and fundraising support
- London Landmarks Medal
- Training plans and support
Registration and Fundraising
There is a registration fee of £30 and a minimum fundraising requirement of £300.
FAQ
- Are there any age restrictions?
Half marathon entrants must be 17 years or older on the day of the race. Younger runners can take part in the Fun Run, Future Challengers and Toddler Dash races as part of the Cardiff Half Junior which takes place the day before.
- Where is the race start, finish and event village?
The race starts outside Cardiff Castle on Castle Street from 10am. The race will finish on King Edward VII Avenue. The event village is at City Hall Lawn outside Cardiff’s City Hall.
- What do I get for my money?
You’ll get a fantastic, well organised race with good facilities including the opportunity to run on fully closed and marshalled roads. Your run will be chip timed – so you’ll receive an official result at the end of the race and your family and friends will be able to live track you during the race via the Run 4 Wales app. Water, nutrition and course entertainment will be available to you around the route and you will have the opportunity to earn a finishers t-shirt and medal, which can be collected at the finish line upon completing the race. Those who do not turn up or complete the distance will not be eligible to collect finishers items.
