1960's
The advent of the Blesma National Sports Day
In June 1961 the first of the Blesma's National Sports Day was held at the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville. This event was the forerunner for the modern Paralympic Game
The association had grown dramatically over the twenty years from 24 to 113 branches, three homes existed where previous there were none and Blesma was accepted Nationally and Internationally as the body to represent and speak for our limbless veterans.
