1940's
The birth of BLESMAG and Blackpool Home opened
The first Conference to be held in London was at the Royal Hotel in April 1947. A major development to arise was the creation of a new post, National Welfare and Employment Officer, to which Charles Dunham was selected and appointed.
Further to the motion placed in the previous year's conference, the Executive Council authorised an investigation into the possibility of the first Blesma Home being located in Blackpool. Funds were already being raised for the project and very soon the target figure of £5,000 was reached.
