Op RESTORE: The Veterans Physical Health and Wellbeing Service is an NHS service available to veterans in England, who are currently experiencing physical health or wellbeing problems.
The NHS service aims to make it easier for ex-forces personnel to access the correct and best possible treatment for their physical injuries or illnesses, which have been as a result of their military service. If you’re a veteran who has experienced a mental illness as a result of your service, Op COURAGE is your go-to NHS resource. However, Op COURAGE is not the only mental health resource available, there are also a number of mental health charities and additional mental health services available to veterans.
Formerly known as the Veterans Trauma Network – in 2023, the NHS service was renamed to Op RESTORE to be more easily identifiable and consistent with other NHS healthcare services available to veterans: These additional health services include:
- Op COURAGE: The Veterans Mental Health and Wellbeing Service
- Op NOVA: Support for veterans in the justice system, delivered by the Forces Employment Charity
- Op COMMUNITY: Advice and support on the services which are available to the Armed Forces Community, which includes veterans, serving personnel, reservists, family members, carers and the wider military community
NHS GP Referral
If you are a veteran, we encourage you let your surgery know that you are a veteran and ask your GP to refer you to Op RESTORE. They are able to do this by emailing imperial.oprestore@nhs.net.
To be eligible, you must be registered with a GP in England, living in England, have at least one day of service in the UK Armed Forces, and your injury or illness must be as a result of your military service.
