Two cousins from Huyton, Merseyside are taking on the Pennine Way Trail to raise money for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.

Tony Naylor, a plumber, and Adrian Carelton, a railway engineer, started the 268 mile trek on Tuesday 03 May, Tony’s 50^th birthday, and are hoping to complete it in just 21 days. They are travelling unsupported, carrying around 15kg of kit each which includes camping equipment.

The pair chose to fundraise for Blesma to give back to those who have been injured serving their country. Adrian served with the Royal Corps of Signals during the 1980s, completing tours in Northern Ireland. A colleague of his in the Army lost his leg and has received support from Blesma, which is how they came across the charity’s work.

Tony says: “My Dad sadly passed away last year after losing his battle with cancer. We had discussed completing the Pennine Way many years ago so I am doing it in his memory. We are raising money for Blesma so that the charity can continue to support those who have given so much for their country.”

So far Tony and Adrian have raised over £1,300 for Blesma, but are hoping to increase this as the walk progresses.

Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.
