Commemorative EP to raise money for wounded veterans

Independent record label Finyl Vinyl, based in north Kent, have kindly chosen to support Blesma, The Limbless Veterans by donating the profits of the EP ‘Fallen Leaves’ by musician Des Barkus which is being released to mark the centenary of the First World War, to the charity.

The record is a 4-track EP and will be available as a CD and a 12” vinyl. It will be released in line with Record Store Day on Saturday 16 April. For details on how to purchase a copy, contact Clare Hollister at clare@finylvinyl.co.uk.

Des Barkus is a well-known singer/songwriter and musician in the Oxfordshire area. For the EP, he wrote and recorded three original tracks ‘Fallen Leaves’, ‘In Their Eyes’ and ‘King & Country’, the fourth track is a cover version of a Motörhead track ‘1916’.

Clare Hollister, the Managing Director of Finyl Vinyl, chose to support Blesma after hearing about the charity from a friend of her son’s. Rifleman Jack Otter lost both legs and an arm while serving with The Rifles in Afghanistan. Blesma has supported Jack since his injury and will continue to do so for the rest of his life.

Clare says: “It is a privilege to support Blesma who do such important work. Finyl Vinyl would like to thank everyone involved in this project for their time and talent especially Guy Dagul and, of course, Des Barkus.”

Associate Director of Fundraising at Blesma, Barbara Warner, says: “We are delighted that Finyl Vinyl have chosen to support Blesma with the sale of Des Barkus’ EP. The hard work and dedication of fundraisers like Clare and her team make sure that we can continue to provide assistance to veterans like Jack. Thank you from everyone at Blesma!”
