Convoy of MG Rover fundraisers to tackle Land’s End to John O’Groats for limbless veterans
24 September 2015
Starting from Land’s End on Friday 02 October, a convoy of members of MG Rover clubs based all over the UK will be setting off from Land’s End to complete the iconic journey across the length of the country, ending in John O’Groats on Monday 5th. The event will be fundraising for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans.
On Saturday 3rd, the convoy will be stopping off at Blesma’s Blackpool Home on Lytham Road to visit the staff and residents there.
The event dubbed ‘MG/Rover Leg4Leg’ has been organised by Craig Meredith and Jess Stephens, both 33, of Patchway, Bristol. The pair are members of the Modified MG Rovers Club and are encouraging MG Rover Clubs from across the country to link up with them as they travel through the country. They will be carrying a specially-made emblem which will be passed from club to club.
The group are hoping to raise over £1,000 for Blesma after they both wanted to do something to support a military charity.
Craig Meredith, one of the organisers of the event, said: “With the help of MG Rover owners and clubs nationwide, we hope the event catches people’s imaginations and highlights just how important organisations like Blesma are. They do fantastic work and we feel honoured to be representing them in this way."
Hana Goodman, Community Fundraiser at Blesma says, “Jess and Craig have put so much effort into the organisation of this epic event. We are delighted that MG Rover Clubs all over the country have chosen to support Blesma. Every penny raised from this event will go towards supporting our injured service personnel through activities and welfare support. We honestly couldn’t continue our work without the support of people like Craig and Jess and the MG Rover teams.”
