QBE Foundation grants military charity £25,000 to help limbless veterans

17 December 2013

The QBE Foundation, part of the QBE Insurance Group has donated military charity Blesma, The Limbless Veterans £25,000.

The grant will go towards the purchase of an adapted coach to transport injured veterans in Blesma Blackpool.

The London-based QBE Foundation supports charities that help people overcome disadvantage, strengthen their abilities, and live more independently, successfully and productively.

Once purchased, the new coach will be based at Blesma’s Blackpool Home and will primarily serve its 22 residing Members and the 300 who will participate in Blesma’s Health and Wellbeing Programmes over the next two years.

The coach will offer ease of mobility to wheelchair bound Members and enhance their quality of life by opening up access to more outdoor activities and longer trips away.

Rose Yombo-Djema, Senior Fundraising Executive for Trusts and Foundations at Blesma says: “The generous grant will contribute towards the purchase of a wheelchair coach for our Members. This will help us to achieve our goal of enabling Members to lead more active, fulfilling lives by being able to travel easily and comfortably. A massive thank you to the QBE Foundation from the Blesma Team."
