Paranormal investigator stages unique fundraiser for a charity of his choice
13 November 2013
A paranormal investigator and event organiser is raising money and awareness for Blesma, The Limbless Veterans in a rather unique way.
John Blackburn from the North West of England has chosen to raise money and awareness for a historical military charity after being inspired by his friend Steve Gill, who lost both legs and an eye to an IRA bombing in Northern Ireland in the late 1980s.
John will be staging a lone vigil sit-in in a haunted cottage in St. Osyth, Essex known as ‘The Cage’. The cottage was used in the sixteenth century as a prison for holding people who had been accused of witchcraft.
While in the cottage, John intends to perform a number of experiments in an attempt to connect with the spirits present.
John will be blindfolded for an hour to heighten his senses as he attempts to connect with what is widely considered to be the most haunted painting in the world ‘The Anguished Man’ to try and gain information about the entity which resides within it. John will also have a dog present so as to gauge its reaction, as animals are considered far more sensitive to their surroundings.
Interestingly, this vigil will be interactive and those interested can watch John’s progress online at http://www.ktpf.co.uk/. Those watching online will be encouraged to make a donation towards Blesma on John’s fundraising page.
John said: “Blesma have worked tirelessly for the interests of our injured service and ex-service personnel for nearly 100 years and so I thought it would be good to use this opportunity of performing a lone vigil as a unique way to raise awareness and funds for a great cause.”
Blesma, The Limbless Veterans is the national charity for all limbless service men and women, their widows and dependants. It was formed in the years following the First World War and became a national charity in 1932.
