A Victory for Veterans: Mobility Fund Returns

We are delighted to be able to share some exciting news with you that Help for Heroes and Blesma have been successful in our joint bid to deliver the reinstated Veterans’ Mobility Fund.

The decision was announced by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs today, and we are proud that our charities have been recognised and trusted to deliver it.

Mobility issues are among the biggest challenges faced by injured veterans, and, since the closure of the original fund in February 2021, we have seen an increase in the number of people coming to us for mobility grants.

That’s why together we fought for more than two years to have this life-changing fund reinstated, taking our campaign to the heart of government, bolstered by a public petition that received more than 30,000 signatures within in two weeks – a staggering response.

We therefore share the relief of many wounded veterans that the UK Government is now doing the right thing and reintroducing the Veterans’ Mobility Fund

This will enable us to provide specialist equipment, not otherwise available through the NHS or Ministry of Defence, to veterans nationwide who suffered physical injuries during service.

We will be providing further details on how eligible veterans can apply in due course, but we hope to open the fund for applicants in early 2024.
