Blesma member Elaine Corner works for the charity Step Together Volunteering, organising volunteering placements for Wounded, Injured and Sick service personnel, Veterans and their families as part of their recovery.

Her role is to meet up with clients and tailor their placements to their areas of interests or future employment. Step Together help their clients use volunteering as a way to realise that they have skills which are useful beyond the Forces, help them to learn new skills and help them integrate into civilian life and the local community.

Step Together work with a wide range of charities across the UK so have a good success rate of finding a placement which suits the individual no matter what their circumstances are. They are also able to find placements for those who wish to volunteer from home.

Each year, Step Together helps over 300 wounded, injured and sick (WIS) service personnel and veterans across the UK to rebuild their lives. Their Rehabilitation through Volunteering programme supports WIS service personnel, veterans and their families across the UK to make significant change in their lives, through one-to-one support and active engagement in the local community as a part of their recovery and resettlement.
