Living with persistent pain can be difficult, affecting all areas of your life.
Take the opportunity to embark on the Veteran Specific Pain Management Programme (PMP) to help you learn ways to manage it more effectively.
The programme has twice been rated as outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and 93% of veterans who completed the programme rated it as five stars.
The aims of the PMP are:
- To improve physical functioning and ability whilst reducing associated flare ups.
- To boost understanding of persistent pain conditions to help you make choices about your future pain management.
- To reduce pain related distress and behaviors that may be increasing and maintaining your distress and difficulties.
- To review and reduce medication and to develop ways to manage increases in pain.
The process is ten days spread over nine months; this includes two residential components of four days each and two single days.
King Edward VII’s Hospital will provide the assessment and treatment free of charge and will cover all reasonable travel costs, accommodation and meals. Spaces are limited and a GP referral along with ‘Proof of Service’ will need to be submitted before an assessment can be offered.
