Black Watch Veteran David was just 24 years old when he was injured in Afghanistan. He lost both his legs when an IED was trigged and detonated.
After rehab, David began karting, beating able-bodied drivers straight away and motorsport played a big part in his recovery process.
But David also wanted to be able to provide for his young family and as a double amputee, he thought he'd never work again. That was until he met Ian, a construction company owner, on a racetrack in Scotland. Three years later, he is now working for the company.
“Working in a trade burns me out, so at night time, I get a good sleep. It keeps me going. It keeps my morale going and I’m thinking about the job rather than anything else. It keeps my mind set away from my PTSD in ways.”
