“Adaptive Grand Slam – to the summit of Everest”

The Adaptive Grand Slam (AGS) project organises challenge events including taking on the explorer’s grand slam, which is an extreme endeavour to climb the highest peak in each continent in addition to walking to the North and South Poles unsupported.

The organisers and adventurers of these expeditions and challenges are wounded ex-servicemen, civilian members of the disabled community, professional mountaineers, expedition leaders and our supporters. The Grand Slam is considered, amongst seasoned mountain climbers and expedition leaders, as the height of expedition achievement and the AGS team are unique in that they have to rely on alternative ways and means of completing the challenges with their various disabilities.

To date, AGS team members have reached the North Pole unsupported and have successfully summited Mt Denali, Mt Elbrus, Mt Kilimanjaro, Mt Aconcagua and Mt Everest.  Our team have also summited Grand Paradiso, Mt Pumori and Mt Manaslu on training exercises.

You may remember the story of how Blesma Members Martin Hewitt, created of the Adapted Grand Slam, and Terry Bryne took on Everest in May 2019, as featured in the Blesma Magazine. Now, they are excited to announce that their film “Adaptive Grand Slam – to the summit of Everest” will be screened at the Royal Geographical Society on Wednesday, 1st April.

A number of tickets have been pre-allocated to Blesma Members for free, on a first-come-first-serve basis, so you can witness the team’s achievement in conquering Mount Everest, spectacularly chronicled in stunning detail.

This London premiere will be introduced by Channel 4’s Phil Spencer, and close with a Q&A where the team will be happy to answer all your questions.

Tickets include a welcome drinks reception so you can raise a glass to toast the expedition team!

All funds raised from this event will enable disabled adventurers to join our forthcoming expeditions to Carson’s Pyramid in Papua New Guinea this August, and the South Pole in November 2021.
