Blesma Members and staff were invited to a Charity Golf day hosted by the Park Golf Society, Exmouth on Friday 29th July.
The Margaret Rose Memorial Charity Gold Day each year supports two chosen charities in raising funds at Woodbury Park Golf Club. Beneficiaries this year were Blesma and Hospiscare, a local adult hospice charity who care for those with a terminal illness.
“Each year the day is also in memory of someone,” said Graham Miles, organiser of the day. “This year we honoured popular local man, Steve ‘Wilma’ Willcock, and their family chose to raise money for Blesma as they knew Blesma Member Carole King.”
The charity Golf day originally started eight years ago in memory of Graham’s mum, Margaret Rose.
Blesma Members Mike Browne, Grieg Phillips and Dave Onions and Blesma National Volunteer Officer Frank Garside were invited to play on the day and formed the Blesma team. The team were also supported by Steve Fraser, the Blesma Support Officer for South West.
All 30 teams competing were asked to consider wearing something pink in memory of Steve. In the evening, the teams were joined by family, friends and supports at an evening dinner, presentation auction and raffle.
Blesma are very grateful to the Park Golf Society and in particular Graham and Wendy Miles and all other Society members, wives and supporters that worked extremely hard behind the scenes in making the occasion such a success.
