London-based Entrepreneur Mr Henry Brandon created the ‘Touch Wud’ (as they were known at the time) charm as a good luck token for families, partners and soldiers during World War One.
Blesma is proud to have joined hands with Susie Randle along with her business partner Pete Boylan and jewellery designer and silversmith Tess Blenkinsop, who has created the ‘Touch Wood Charm’ – a beautiful replica of the original charms created by Henry Brandon during the First World War.
If you choose Blesma as your chosen charity, 10% of the gross profits on that purchase will come to us.
“If trouble shall assail you,
'Touchwood’ the lucky charm
And instantly its magic
Will free you from all harm
It’s necessary therefore
To wear one night and day;
And so not waste a moment
In chasing care away.”
Susie was introduced to Blesma by family friend Emily Clarkson, daughter of Blesma’s Celebrity Ambassador Francie Clarkson. Cycling enthusiast Francie joined Blesma Members on SR UK 2013 - a cycle ride across the South East of England.
Susie says: “I hadn’t heard of Blesma before chatting with Em and Francie about the support Francie had given them for the Members’ cycling event, but once I discovered the amazing work that they do for injured servicemen and women I knew I wanted to do something to contribute.
The way the origins of both the charms and Blesma come from the First World War could not work any better. I hope that we can raise a substantial amount of money for such a great cause.”
Susie Randle, Owner of Touchwood Charms Ltd
As the nation marks the centenary of The Great War, our Armed Forces continue to make enormous sacrifices and do us proud.
Each charm is hand-crafted in England using Swarovski Elements crystals and sterling silver. All charms are dark wood with a choice of red, blue, pink or green eyes. They come in a velveteen pouch encased in a padded box. There is also an option to add a 16” sterling silver necklace.
To purchase a Touch Wood Charm, visit their website at www.touchwoodcharms.co.uk and select Blesma as the charity you would like to donate the profit to.
