May 1974 - July 2013
Warren served with the Queen's Lancashire Regiment from 1993 until 2001. He contracted a rare form of cancer in his right hand which led to the amputation in 2000 of his right arm below elbow. Despite his disability, or perhaps because of it, he was not content to sit around and feel sorry for himself. In 2004 he ran in the Great North Run, he took part in an expedition organised and filmed by the BBC – “Beyond Boundaries” – a trek through the Nicaraguan jungle in 2005 and was part of a climb up Mount Kilimanjaro in 2006. Not content with challenging himself he also undertook various fundraising activities on behalf of the Association – the most ambitious just prior to his untimely passing, a football match at his beloved Blackburn Rovers Football Ground. Throughout his membership it is estimated that he raised over £30k. Each November since joining the Association he took part in the Remembrance Parade at the Cenotaph, London as part of the Blesma Contingent. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him and our condolences go out to his family.
