Conrad’s model behaviour is given new lease of life
7 July 2020Thanks to the Association, injured Army veteran Conrad Molloy now has a dedicated workspace in which he can pursue his model making hobby. Conrad served with the Royal Anglian Regiment for nine years before his left leg was amputated below the knee after he was injured by a bomb blast in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, in 2000. Eight years ago, he reconnected with a childhood hobby; model making. When his pastime began to take over the family living room, Blesma stepped in to fund a workshop in the Molloys’ garden that would allow Conrad a private space

A thank you message from the ADVANCE Study
6 July 2020The Team behind the ADVANCE Study (ArmeD SerVices TrAuma RehabilitatioN OutComE Study), a unique twenty-year study into the health of military veterans, have recorded a message of thanks to commemorate Armed Forces Day. ADVANCE investigates the long-term physical and psycho-social outcomes of battlefield casualties from the UK Armed Forces following deployment to Afghanistan between 2003 and 2014. Making Generation R shows resilience during lockdown
5 July 2020Making Generation R (MGR) is proving its resilience. Making Generation R, which trains veterans to deliver their life stories to help build resilience in pupils and first responders, has been running a series of online initiatives to support skill levels and maintain connections in lockdown. One of these offerings is live sessions via a Zoom link to groups and organisations. 3 July 2020Gregg Stevenson has devised a weekly home workout especially for his fellow Members, to help us keep our mind and bodies healthy during lock-down. "My name is Gregg and I am a Blesma Member that works at SMRC Preston (the prosthetics centre gym).
