Bert Goddard, 1899-1971 – a personal recollection of a wartime amputee
29 April 2015Peter Goddard is a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communications at the University of Liverpool. Blesma are currently working with the University on their 'Life and Limb' exhibition which looks at the impact of traumatic limb loss on soldiers of the American Civil War and the advances of prosthetics since then through the mediums of art, poetry, literature and photography along with original research. As a young child, one of the most distinctive features about my grandfather, Bert Goddard, was that he only had one leg. So the prospect of the ‘Life and Limb’ exhibition called

Blesma AGM 2015
27 April 2015The 2015 Blesma AGM will be held at One Great George Street, Westminster, London, SW1P 3AA, on Thursday 25th June 2015, starting at 14.00hrs. The afternoon will commence with the brief constitutional element of our Annual General Meeting with an audience of Members, advisors, volunteers, supporters and ambassadors. We will be joined by our patron the Duke of Westminster. You will then have the opportunity to hear what our Members have achieved in the past year and Blesma plans for the future. Hailsham College Students raise over £1,000 for Blesma
