Colin Rouse MBE

Meet Colin Rouse MBE

Trustee for Blesma since:

15 July 2008

Their Story

Colin served in the Royal Air Force for 22 years.

On leaving the RAF he became a Higher Instructional Officer with the Civil Service teaching Resource and Initiative Training as a highly qualified sail training instructor for the services.  Whilst taking a course in June 1999 on a Service Yacht in Poole Harbour, there was an explosion on board resulting in his losing his left leg above the knee.

He became a Blesma Member in September 1999 and has since played a pivotal role in expanding challenge activities such as offshore sailing and skiing for Members. He skippered the all amputee crew in the Blesma Fastnet and Transatlantic sailing events and he was elected to the Board of Trustees in 2008.
